Cheap international calls using Speaq (e.g.calls to Iraq mobile)

Due to recent pricing changes, we thought it was worth pointing out that, under some circumstances, it may now be cheaper to make international calls from your mobile phone than from your landline.

Of course, one reason for this may be that your landline provider is charging more than BT for calls to our access numbers. (For example, see
http://store.virginmedia.com/content/dam/eSales/Downloads/010612NonGeoV1.pdf
and
http://store.virginmedia.com/content/dam/eSales/Downloads/010313Residential-Cable-V1.pdf
to find out how much Virgin charge for calls to our access numbers.)
However, other changes have also had an effect. For example, consider the rates for calls to Iraq mobile. The Planet Talk Instant rate to Iraq mobile increased recently, leaving the best rate to Iraq mobile showing (at the time of writing) on http://www.lowphonerates.co.uk/#I as 7p per minute (via Callthrough.net's 7p access number 0871-4127487)
However, the best rate showing on http://www.callsfrommobiles.co.uk/#I for calls to Iraq mobile from UK mobiles is (at the time of writing) 6p per  minute, using Speaq. This price excludes the cost of calling the Speaq access number, so this is only really useful if you have plenty of inclusive minutes available to use. The access number is an 03 code, and these access numbers were discussed in a previous post: supposedly all inclusive minutes packages are required to include all 03 numbers, but you may wish to check with your service provider!
For calls to Iraq landlines, Speaq is still good at 3p per minute, but (at the time of writing) Just Dial Instant has a 2p per minute callthrough access number you may wish to use, namely 0844-8381556.
Hopefully this example illustrates that it is worth checking the rates available for international calls from mobiles. Meanwhile, happy calling!

We have used the highest rate Localphone charge to each country/country mobile.
However, Localphone has a rather large range of rates to different regions and mobile networks. See the differences between
http://www.ourfavouritecompanies.com/OffPeak/phone-rates/Localphone.shtml#rates
and the "minimum rates" shown on the page
http://www.ourfavouritecompanies.com/OffPeak/phone-rates/Localphone-min.shtml#rates
To determine the rate to your desired destination, it is best to visit Localphone's web page to check.

Planet Numbers April Update

Here is what Planet Numbers said about their rate update in April.
Note the use of ## to stay connected to Planet Numbers and make a new call: this can help you to avoid paying the BT call set-up fee more than once.

Planet Numbers Super Spring Savers: calling costs reduced to over 30 international destinations

Date: 2013-04-11 | Author: Robin James
This month we're delighted to announce that we've reduced the price of calling overseas to over thirty countries - when you use Planet Numbers' International Call Saver service.
The International Call Saver service means you can call just about anywhere in the world for a fraction of what you'd pay with BT or any of the big boys. So if your company makes a lot of international calls you can cut a massive chunk off your regular overhead simply by switching to ICS.
The best news is there's no sign-ups, PINs or passwords. To get these savings all you have to do is dial a Planet Numbers access number before you dial your normal overseas number.
We then divert your call round our internet network (not that you'll hear any difference) so you pay our rates, not BT's.
Want to make another cheap call? Easy, just dial ## before you end a call to stay connected to the Planet Numbers ICS network.
Here are just a few of this month's price reductions. All costs are per minute, all day every day:
Was Now
Bangladesh: 3p 2.5p
Chile: 2p 1.5p
Finland Mobiles: 5p 4p
Greece Mobiles: 2.5p 1.5p
Israel Mobiles: 2.5p 1.5p
Italy Mobiles: 7p 6p
Jamaica: 6p 5p
Kazakhstan: 7p 5p
Nepal: 8p 7p
Nigeria: 6p 5p
Poland Mobiles: 3p 2.5p
Sweden Mobiles: 2.5p 2p

Access numbers beginning 033 (etc.)

Hi everyone,
Those of you using our SMS top up services to make cheap international calls from mobile phones may start to notice that the access numbers for some of these services now begin with 033 (or similar) rather than 0207. You may be wondering whether calls to 033 numbers are included in your inclusive minutes or not.
Here is what Just Dial say about this:

033 Access Number

All topup messages sent to customers now have a 033 access number for use with our topup2talk service. Customers using the 033 access number have the same experience as calling 020 7124 6666.

The 033 access number is 0333 3218 747

Many customers are not familiar with 033 numbers and may be unsure of the cost of calling this type of number. Calls to 033 Numbers cost no more than calling a 01 or 02 numbers and must be included from any "inclusive" minutes or call package.

This applies when calling from a landline or a mobile. This makes the 033 number a better option as the customer is guaranteed to be charged at the best rate from their service plan. (Some networks state that they’ll charge a higher rate for calling an 0207 number attached to services like topup2talk).

for some more information on this.

Conferencecall.co.uk

Hi everyone,
Here is an interesting new product: cheap dial-up conference calls.
See http://www.conferencecall.co.uk (uk) and http://www.conferencecalling.nl/nl/over (full list of countries)
Here is what it says on the page http://www.conferencecall.co.uk/how-it-works

3 Easy steps

1. Set up your Conference Call
Choose a date/time of your conference call and pick a 4 to 8-digit PIN code.

2. Invite your Participants
Send all participants an invitation with your PIN code, date/time and dial-in number(s).

3. Start your Conference Call
At the agreed time, all participants dial in and enter your PIN code to join your conference call!

1. Set up your Conference Call

I want to set up a conference call, do I need to register, sign-up, etc. first?
No, you don't need to sign-up to use our conference call service.

I want to set up a conference call, do I need to let ConferenceCall.co.uk know?
No, you can set up a conference call anytime without letting us know.

How does ConferenceCall.co.uk know how many and which participants will join my conference call?
Our advanced conference call system matches your participants automatically by your PIN code.

How do I retrieve my PIN code?
Very simple: you can pick any 4 to 8-digit PIN code by yourself. Simply don't pick a too easy to guess PIN code like 0000, 111111, 12345678, etc.

How will I know nobody uses my PIN code already?
If you don't pick a too easy to guess PIN code like shown above it's nearly impossible to choose the same PIN code. With an 8-digit PIN code over 100 million combinations are possible.

2. Invite your Participants

What is the maximum number of participants allowed?
You can host a conference call with up to 30 participants at any one time

Can my participants both use their landline and their mobile phone?
Yes, your participants can use their fixed and mobile phone to participant in your conference call. Please note that their mobile provider will add a surcharge per minute for calling an 0844-number.

Can participants from abroad join my conference call as well?
Yes, with our easy conference call service international participants can join as well! ConferenceCall.co.ukoffers local dial-in numbers in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland.
Participants from other countries need to call our worldwide dial-in number: +19164690068.

If an UK participant is abroad, can they use their mobile phone to join the conference call?
Yes, share the international access number +19164690068 to your UK participants when they're abroad with their mobile phone.

3. Start your Conference Call

Which languages are available for my participants to use your conference call service?
English (press 1), Dutch (press 2) and German (press 3).

As a conference call leader, do I need to dial-in before my participants do?
No, our advanced conference call system matches your participants automatically by your PIN code, even if you're delayed. Of course it's professional to be the first participant in the conference room to welcome your participants and eventually introduce them to each other.

Is an announcement played when a participant enters or leaves the conference call?
Yes, as soon a participant enters the conference call an announcement will be player: "A new participant has entered the conference call". As soon as a participant leaves the conference call also an announcement is played: "A participant has left the conference call".

How do I finish my conference call?
As soon the latest participant disconnects the conference call is finished. You don't need to do anything else!

Just Dial Topup2talk

Hi everyone,
Apologies for the inconvenience, but there appears to be a problem with the list of Just Dial topup2talk rates shown on the page http://www.callsfrommobiles.co.uk/
It may simply be a change of format of the rate feed Just Dial provide us with. We should know more soon.
Meanwhile, the rates shown on the page http://www.ourfavouritecompanies.com/just-dial-T2T.shtml appear to be correct.
